[Media-watch] BBC Propaganda: Lie about Scuds

Dear Richard,

On Newsnight tonight a correspondent stated that the reports that Iraq had
fired Scud missiles were dubious; he said that if true the use of these
banned missiles would be significant, but generally he cast doubt on this.
Newsnight was quite clear in this respect in at least two reports; the
actual missiles used were not known, but unlikely to be Scuds.

Why then did two reporters on the BBC One news state unequivocally that Iraq
had fired Scuds? Apart from the fact that these reports are not true, the
reports distort the situation by legitimating a war that is not wanted by a
majority of British people. Given that the BBC One bulletin is where many
people get their world news, this lends credence to the accusations that the
BBC is doing a propaganda job for the Government.

Yours sincerely,
Mark Priestley
