An Introduction to QSR NUD*IST for Analysing Qualitative Data

Dr Sam Punch
Applied Social Science

5th May 2004
B3, Cottrell - 3:00pm - 4:00pm
2A19, Cottrell - 4:00pm - 5:00pm*

The aim of this introductory session is to highlight some of the benefits
and limits of using NUD*IST as a tool to facilitate qualitative data
analysis.

The first half of the session (3-4pm) will illustrate how NUD*IST can be
used drawing on examples from a recent qualitative study. It will indicate
how documents should be prepared for NUD*IST and how to begin devising a
coding system. The second half of the session (4-5pm) will involve a more
hands-on approach, introducing the NUD*IST tutorial and showing you how to
start importing documents, coding the text and doing basic searches.

***Please note there are only 26 places available in the lab and this
session is aimed at those who have not used NUD*IST before***
