Hi all,
UCD has two good PhD opportunities with Marta Talevi and Lisa Ryan as supervisors. The positions are in behavioural, environmental, and energy economics. Marta and Lisa are very good and (importantly) nice. Alumni from our MSc would be competitive.
All the best,
Leo
Hi Leo,
How are you? I hope you're having a great summer and the move went/is going well.
I was wondering if you or anyone you know might have any Master's students who'd be a good fit for the following Marie-Curie PhD positions at UCD (note that there's a requirement to not have lived in Ireland for more than 12 months in the past three years):
Prof. Lisa Ryan and I are recruiting two PhD students to join the department of Economics and the Energy Institute at University College Dublin, Ireland, beginning September 2024 (or as soon as possible thereafter). Application deadline is 10 August 2024.
The PhD positions are part of a Marie Slodowska-Curie doctoral training network on consumer energy demand flexibility (CoDeF) and aims to integrate knowledge of social sciences and engineering in a doctoral training programme across 8 European research institutions. A total of 15 PhD positions in economics, engineering, energy systems, sociology and anthropology are opening across the network. These positions provide a fantastic opportunity for students interested in the energy transition. More details here: https://www.codef-dn.eu/home .
Note that each partner university is recruiting separately for different positions. At UCD we are looking for candidates with a background in Economics (especially behavioural, environmental, and energy economics), who will join our flagship PhD programme in Economics and work on a thesis on the decision-making process of householders to participate in demand response actions and the impact of those actions to increase the flexibility of electricity load in the residential sector. More detailed description of the two PhD positions at UCD (with related application details) can be found at these links:
-Engaging households in demand response interventions: Economic incentives and behavioural economics<https://www.ucd.ie/economics/t4media/CoDeF_Talevi_PhDAdDescription.docx.pdf>
-Household uptake and impact of demand response measures: Energy economics and agent-based modelling<https://www.ucd.ie/economics/t4media/CoDeF_Ryan_PhDAdDescriptionDC15.pdf>
In accordance with Marie Slodowska-Curie Action guidelines, candidates must not have lived in Ireland in the last 12 months of the three previous years. The successful candidacy is subject to the approval of the UCD Graduate Research Board and subsequent admittance to the PhD programme.
Given the tight deadline on August 10th, I'd really appreciate it if you could circulate this opportunity within your networks and to specific students or researchers who may be interested.
Many thanks,
Marta
